TAIWAN - The work agenda in Asia led by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of the State Government began with activities in Taiwan, focused on the semiconductor industry and technology. This included visits to universities and companies established in Baja California to learn about their growth plans, as well as meetings with prospects.
With the aim of promoting new investments, meetings were held with leading semiconductor companies, emphasizing regional capabilities and the high potential that arises from combining talent, infrastructure, and the industrial base of California, Arizona, and Baja California.
The state is one of the main players in the bilateral alliance and cooperation between the United States and Mexico to strengthen the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry and its supply chain. It will soon host the second Semiconductor Collaboration Forum in June 2024, where the benefits arising from the integration of both countries will be leveraged.
To establish trust links and present the leadership and capabilities of the state, as well as the work for talent development to support the development of economic activities, particularly in key industries with high growth potential, the delegation includes state authorities, as well as rectors from the main public and private universities: Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), Cetys University, Technological University of Tijuana (UTT), and the Ibero-American University, as well as representatives from the promotion organizations that make up ProBaja.
The delegation also visited National Taiwan University, one of the most prestigious and representative public research institutions, with a long history since its founding in 1928. It hosts 34,000 students and has significant educational programs related to semiconductors, in addition to being open to training Mexican students.
Additionally, the delegation visited Yuanpei University of Science and Technology, which stands out for being a pioneer in its field since its founding in 1964. It develops medical and health talent and has strong links with local companies and an international vision.
