JAPAN - The Bajacalifornian delegation composed of representatives from economic promotion agencies ProBaja Trade & Investment, academic institutions, and the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (SEI), showcased Baja California's capabilities for expanding operations and developing new projects to Toyota executives during the recent Asia business trip which concluded last week.
The secretary of the SEI expressed gratitude to the President of Toyota Motor Mexico, Luis Lozano, who accompanied the delegation on their agenda, which included a tour of the Motomachi plant and a visit to the Kaikan museum with its manufacturing exhibits, hybrid technology, car collection, and safety simulators.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Baja California has been operating its plant in the state since 2002, producing the Tacoma vehicle and pickup boxes for the North American market.
In another part of the agenda, a visit was made to Tsukuba University to strengthen collaboration for the development of high-value talent demanded by Baja California's economic and strategic sectors such as electronics, semiconductors, and aerospace. The Rector of the Technological University of Tijuana, the Director General of Ibero Tijuana, Florentino Badial, AndrƩs Ruelas from Grupo Educativo 16 de Septiembre, and the Director of the College of Engineering at Cetys University actively participated for this purpose..
"It has been an honor to be received by the President of the University, Nagata Kyosuke, as well as the Vice President and Executive Director of Global Affairs, Ikeda Jun, the Head of International Strategy and the Global Initiatives Bureau, Ohneda Osamu, as well as the head of that office, Sekimoto Keiko."
The university has a total of 28 colleges and schools with around 16,500 students, and by campus extension, it is the second largest in Japan.
During the visit, the Ambassador of Mexico in Japan, Melba PrĆa, accompanied the delegation, expressing her willingness to serve as a bridge between Baja California and Asia, recognizing that it is the state closest to that continent. It is worth noting that the Embassy has areas dedicated to exports, investment, and talent.
